Sister Sarah
This small painting. It is a silhouette of a woman that is recurring in my work and she is wearing a brown dress. The dress is glossy while the rest of the painting is matte.

Blackface Redbeads
This is one of the first blackface paintings I did. The paint is actually burnt cork applied with acrylic medium. The image is right out of a magazine and the beads are sewn to the page.

Lookback Lady
This is a small painting of the silhouette of a woman with her back turned toward the viewer but with her gaze still facing forward. The back ground is brown and the image is created by cutting into the paper. The grid is sewn with hair and even though this is a small image it is very a powerful piece.

Hottentot figure
This is a profile view of the hottentot figure from France. It is basically a large booty profile. It is stiched in hair and the background is as in most of my paintings tones of brown. There is a gradual light to dark from the upper corner which I take from classsical paintings to represent a "presence."
